Day trips from Palma de Mallorca
Soller
A day trip to Soller is by far one of the most popular day trips from Palma de Mallorca, mostly because you can take a historic train to get there.
There are several nice things to do in Soller, like visiting the majestic Parroquia de Sant Bartomeu and exploring the old town, where there are some nice boutique shops and great shopping opportunities.
However, one of the main reasons people visit Soller is the historic Port de Soller tram, dating back to 1912, which takes you down to the beautiful bay in just 15 minutes.
Among the things you can do in Port de Soller, I recommend walking up the hill to Museu de la Mar for the views, and of course, exploring the marina and beaches.

Valldemossa
Valldemossa is easily my favorite Palma day trip. There are plenty of things to do in Valldemossa, from exploring the old town and its bakeries to visiting the monastery and palace.
The rustic town was Chopin’s home during the winter of 1838-1839, more precisely in the monastery. Not surprisingly, one of the highlights in Valldemossa is to visit his former home, where you can see his original piano which he composed some of his best works when he lived there.
I also love the views from the beautiful garden in Chopin’s Cell and the one next door of the monastery, which are both beautiful gardens, but very different.
There are so many reasons to visit Valldemossa, but if you love good views, make sure to climb the tower in the Palacio del Rey Sancho, where you’ll have the entire town at your feet as well as the views of the surrounding mountains and the valley leading down to the coast.

Drach Cave
If there’s one cave you should visit in Mallorca, it’s Drach Cave. It’s an easy drive from Palma, but even if you don’t have a car, I highly recommend this tour that includes transport from Palma de Mallorca.
The cave tour is absolutely wonderful, but for me, the highlight was the concert inside the cave. There’s a lake inside the cave, and the musical band came floating in on row boats playing classical music, which made the sound magical inside the cave.
We also to a boat ride across the lake to continue the tour after the concert. I was really mesmerized by the experience, despite being in one of the most popular tourist attractions in Mallorca, believe it or not.

Fornalutx
Fornalutx has been a favorite of mine for years. Not only is it a charming little town nestled in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Tramuntana mountains amidst lemon and orange groves, but I’ve never met many tourists there!
That’s a treat. Especially if you visit Mallorca in August, when the island is literally overrun by tourists.
Fornalutx is a small, rustic town with so many picturesque corners, narrow streets with pot plants, stepped streets, and exquisite views.
There isn’t a whole lot to do besides walking around and taking pictures, but I highly recommend taking the time to sit down for a coffee or a bite to eat at one of the local bars to soak in the place.
The magic of Fornalutx is that the place hasn’t really changed since the Middle Ages, when the Christian reconquest recovered Mallorca from the Moors.

Deia
Deia is a super charming small town with exquisite views, and has been home to several artists throughout the years, among them the poet Robert Graves. You can visit the house where he used to live and learn more about his time in Mallorca.
You find several art galleries throughout Deia, and it’s one of the best places to find local art in Mallorca.
Besides being a lovely place to walk around, Deia boasts exquisite views of the coast, and you can also venture down the windy roads to Port de Deia to see the seaside.

Cal d’Or
If you’re looking for a day trip from Palma to see some of the fantastic turquoise coves Mallorca is so famous for, Cala d’Or is a great day trip option.
The beach town is home to several beautiful bays with pristine beaches and turquoise waters, with cliffs to jump from. While it does get crazy packed of people in the summer, I’d say most of Mallorca’s coast does.
Cala d’Or is home to Cala Gran, Cala Petita (which are basically the big and small coves), and Cala Llonga (long cove), which are all incredibly beautiful.
I was there in August, and for me, there were too many people to relax, and that was on a cloudy and windy day. If you can go outside the high season, I think you’ll have a better experience.

Pollensa
Finally, one of the best day tours from Palma de Mallorca is, without a doubt, to Pollensa. It’s a quaint town in northern Mallorca with a lovely old town where you find plenty of nice restaurants and shops. The main square is not to be missed, with its church and many restaurants.
One of the best things to do in Pollensa is to climb the 365 Calvari Steps to the little Calvari chapel at the top. The views from there are unmatched.
The Museum of Pollensa is great if you want to learn more about the area’s history, and I also recommend visiting the Saint Domingo’s Cloister. Pollensa is also home to an old Roman Bridge.

Summing up the best Palma de Mallorca day trips
Summing up, there are so many amazing Palma de Mallorca day trips you can take to explore the rest of the island.
The bus system is mostly fine in Mallorca, but some day tours are better with a car or by joining a guided tour from Palma.
Whether you visit Mallorca in winter or in the summer, these are fantastic places to experience.
Happy travels!
