Considering a day trip to Soller in Mallorca, and not sure what to plan for the day, the best way?
Fret not!
I’ve been to this charming Tramuntana town several times, and while there are plenty of things to do in Soller, you can easily pack most of it into one day, without any stress.
Soller is mostly known for its historical tram, which you can take to Port de Soller in only a 15-minute journey. This Soller itinerary is also perfect if you plan on visiting the town as part of a Mallorca road trip.

How to get to Soller, Mallorca
Soller is easily reached from Palma de Mallorca by bus (30 minutes) or by taking the historic Soller train (1 hour). Check bus timetables here or book your train trip here.
You can also go to Soller by car easily from anywhere on the island. There is parking in the town center, but it’s usually easier to park outside the center at one of the large paid parking lots or along the main road.
It will typically take around 15 minutes to walk into the main square where the church is from these parking areas.
If you drive, make sure you book your rental car early so you get the best deals!

Best time to visit Soller
Soller is fantastic all year round, but in all honesty, I’d avoid the hottest months of the year, particularly July and August.
Not only for the heat, but also due to the insane number of tourists crowding Mallorca at this time. Generally, I’d avoid Mallorca in August.
That said, it is nice to visit Port de Soller at a time when you can still swim there, so I’d say my favorite time to visit Soller is September, when it’s a bit cooler, so it’s nice to walk around the town, but still warm enough in the water to go swimming.
If you visit Mallorca in winter, be prepared for cooler temperatures, and the chances of rain are quite high – at least in my experience.
Where to stay in Soller
If you plan to stay one night in Soller, I’ll leave you my top hotel picks here so you can book your choice before you go.
LUXURY: Gran Hotel Soller – Located centrally in Soller, this is possibly the best 5-star hotel to stay at, within walking distance from everything. It’s got a spa and a rooftop pool, and I absolutely love the outdoor space.
MID-RANGE: L’Avenida – This is a fantastic hotel, centrally located in Soller with a pool and parking available for guests.
BUDGET: Sóller Center – Possibly the best location in Soller, a clean and modern hotel with private parking.

One day Soller itinerary
Grab a coffee at Placa de la Constitució
The best way to start your Soller one-day itinerary is to grab a coffee, or even breakfast if you haven’t had any yet, at the popular Placa de la Constitució.
Being the central square of Soller, in front of Parroquia de Sant Bartomeu and with the historic tram going through it, it’s a great place to soak in the Soller vibe.
There are several restaurants and bars you can choose from, and in my experience, they’re all good.

Step inside Parroquia de Sant Bartomeu
Parroquia de Sant Bartomeu is located at Placa de la Constitució and dates back to the 13th century. The church is iconic to Soller, and you can see it even from a distance as it towers above the rest of the buildings and contrasts with the mountains around.
I really love the interior and think it’s well worth the small price of a couple of Euros you pay at the entrance. I especially love the ceiling and the stained glass windows.

Stroll around the historic town center
After visiting the church, take a walk around the old town. There are several shops and bakeries in Carrera de Sa LLuna (Centro Comercial) if you want to do some shopping or taste some local baked goods.
Just be aware, if you’re a vegetarian, many of the local baked goods have pig fat in them, so ask before you try!
While the historic center of Soller is far from as beautiful as the historic centers of nearby towns like Valdemossa and Fornalutx, it still has its charm. I especially love that you can see the mountains at the end of many streets.

Take the iconic tram to Port de Soller
One of the absolute best things to do in Soller in one day is to take the historic tram to Port de Soller. It was built in 1912 and is an icon of Soller to this day.
You can take the tram from outside the tourist office (which is, ironically enough, inside a tram wagon itself) and pay directly on the tram.
When we did this tram journey in the summer of 2025, the price was 10 Euros each way, and we were told that the price goes up every year.
The tram ride to Port de Soller only takes 15 minutes, and the views of the countryside are spectacular, as well as the bay of Port de Soller once you get there.

Have lunch in Port de Soller
Once you reach Port de Soller, I suggest having lunch at the marina. If you’re not hungry just yet, you can take it later.
I really love the marina, where there are several restaurants, but you can also walk above the marina if you prefer the views. I haven’t tried the restaurants there, so I can’t say if they’re good or not, though.
Walk to the best views of Port de Soller
One of my favorite things to do in Port de Soller is walking to the best views on top of the hill where Museu de la Mar is located. It’s a bit of an uphill walk, especially in the summer, but there are great views along the way so you can stop to catch your breath when needed.
Besides the view of Port de Soller, the hilltop offers views of the sea crashing into the cliffs on the other side, too, which I really enjoyed.

Stroll around the marina or go for a swim at the beach
Before returning with the tram to Soller, there’s time to stroll around the marina to look at the boats or even go for a swim at the beach in the summer.
I love the beaches in Port de Soller because the bay is so sheltered that the water is usually calm and clean.
If you want to take it slower, why not sit down at one of the bars with a drink and people watch?

Take the tram back to Soller
Whenever you’re ready to leave, take the tram back up to Soller. I suggest seeing the sunset in Port de Soller before you go if you have the time, but make sure you check the tram hours so you don’t miss the last one. That said, they usually go quite late in the day.
Have dinner in Soller’s old town
When you come back to Soller, it’s time to go for dinner. Unless you decided to have dinner in Port de Soller before returning to Soller, that is.
There are several restaurants in Soller, but one of my favorites is Re Organic, which has a lot of vegan options and really nice health food in general.
Reflections on a day trip to Soller
Summing up, a day trip to Soller gives you just enough time to see both Soller and Port de Soller without stressing.
If you use Soller as a base to see other towns in Mallorca, there are many great day trips from Soller you can take, though most of them are best by car.
