I even answered myself that I don’t think it is. Luckily, my path crossed with Madrid several times through festivals, layovers, visits to the embassy, and so on.
Over the course of the years, I’ve gotten to know Mardid pretty well and what I thought was just another city turned out to become an awesome city.
Definitely, in the shadows of more interesting and historically attractive cities like Barcelona and Seville, there are still several good reasons to visit Madrid.

Madrid offers a diverse and delicious culinary scene. Don’t miss the chance to try traditional Spanish dishes like paella, tapas, and churros with chocolate.
As a vegan, I can say that the city is a heaven for vegans, especially compared to the Andalusian cities. There are plenty of vegan restaurants and cafés and many places have vegan options on the menu.
Vibrant Nightlife
Madrid comes alive at night with its vibrant nightlife. Experience the lively atmosphere of tapas bars, enjoy live music in Malasaña, or dance the night away in one of the city’s many nightclubs.

Football Fever

So, is Madrid worth visiting for shopping? Absolutely yes! Madrid is a shopper’s paradise with a vast variety of shops and boutiques. The Gran Via is known for its upscale shopping in opulent buildings.
Renowned for its upscale and exclusive shopping, the Salamanca district is home to luxury brands and designer boutiques. Calle Serrano, in particular, is famous for its high-end fashion and jewelry shops.
If you’re looking for something unique, head to El Rastro, one of the oldest and largest flea markets in Europe, which is a treasure trove for unique and quirky finds.
Malasaña is mainly known for its vibrant nightlife, but it also offers a bohemian atmosphere with a range of vintage shops, concept stores, and local designers.

Experiencing the different vibes leaves no doubt: Madrid is worth visiting. And not only for a quick visit, but it’s worth spending time in the city uncovering the different layers.
Easy Day Trips
The city’s central location makes it a perfect hub for day trips to nearby destinations. Day trips from Madrid by train to nearby destinations like Toledo, Segovia, and Ávila which are all incredible historical destinations are a must.
If you prefer the commodity of an organized tour, I highly recommend this tour of Segovia and Ávila or this tour of Toledo and Segovia.
But the fast train, make it possible to go on a day trip from Madrid to Valencia with only 2 hours travel time. You can easily see Valencia in a day by booking a guided tour of the city. I also highly recommend taking a bike tour of the City of Arts and Science.

Summing up, there are plenty of reasons to visit Madrid, Spain. It’s a big city with plenty of art and culture.
Besides, you will find a new epic place to eat and drink every time you go out – if you don’t get hooked and end up going back to the same places time after time. I challenge you to try somewhere new! Madrid has so much variation to offer.
